about me

Max Knauer (©Marco Armborst)

I was born in 1980 in Freising near Munich, Germany.

Following a 2-year long internship at a camera rental house

and film-processing lab, I began working as a camera assistant in 2003.

I had the great luck to work with a number of talented cinematographers.

During this time I got to know diverse approaches,

styles, formats and work situations.

I`ve worked as a 2nd Unit DoP and camera operator since 2011.

In 2016, I filmed the thriller "Der 7. Tag",

directed by Roland Suso Richter,

which was my first full-length film as cinematographer.

Since then I`m working as a Director of Photography.

2019 I received a German Camera Award nomination

for "Tatort: Tiere der Großstadt".
